Preparing for the Saviors Second Coming

Mark 13; Luke 21: 5-8, Joseph Smith-Matthew. Preparing for the Saviors Second Coming.

1.) Review: Mark 13: 5, 9,23,33,35,37 and identify the words take heed and watch in each verse. List at least three things from this chapter that believers can watch for in order to be prepared to meet the Lord.

•        Take heed lest anyman deceive you

•        Take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.

•        Take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.

•        Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

•        Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:

•        And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

Three things from this chapter that believers can watch for would be:

•        People that will try to deceive, for false Christs and false Prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

•       In those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,

•        For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.

2.) Explain in writing any other additional truths that are taught in the following references about how to prepare for the second coming of Jesus Christ.

Truths on how to prepare from the above verses:

·       Stand ye in holy places, and be not moved, until the day of the Lord come

•        Be faithful, praying always, having your lamps trimmed and burning, and oil with you, that you may be ready at the coming of the Bridegroom

•        Avoid abominations of desolation spoken of by Daniel the Prophet

•        Treasureth up my word, shall not be deceived, for the Son of Man shall come, and he shall send his angels before him with the great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together the remainder of his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Receive the truth, and take the Holy Spirit for your guide, and have not been deceived

•        Teach others and spread the word: say unto one, I say unto all men; watch, therefore, for you know not at what hour your Lord doth come.
